Get Started #2: View a Demo Map ​

This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions to view a demo map using Honeycomb Data Explorer in Snowflake. Watch the video or follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Prerequisites ​

• Ensure Honeycomb Data Explorer is installed in your Snowflake account.
• Access the Honeycomb welcome screen (described in the first tutorial)

Step-by-Step Guide ​

1. Access the Honeycomb Welcome Screen ​

• After logging into Honeycomb Data Explorer, you will be on the Honeycomb welcome screen.

2. Load a Demo Map ​

1. On the welcome screen, you will see available demo maps.
2. Select the demo map titled Electric Vehicle Chargers in the United States by clicking on it.
3. Wait for the data to load, and the map will appear.

3. Navigate the Map Interface ​

1. Zoom In/Out: Use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in and out of the map.
2. Components Overview:
   • Title and Subtitle: Display the map's title and subtitle at the top.
   • Map Layers: Manage different layers on the map (located on the left).
   • Bar Chart: Interact with the bar chart to filter data on the map (located on the right).

4. Interact with the Map ​

1. Filter by Network:
   • Click on the bar representing the Blink Network in the bar chart.
   • The map will highlight the Blink Network chargers, dimming others.
2. Manage Map Layers:
   • Turn off the Heat Map layer to hide it.
   • Turn on the Location Layer to show individual charger locations as points.
   • Zoom in to view specific areas, such as Washington DC.
   • Switch between the heat map and location layers for different views.

5. Reset Filters ​

• To view all chargers again, click on the Blink Network bar to deselect the filter.
